Four Raiders Depart for NHL Camps
Prince Albert SK – Four members of the Prince Albert Raiders departed for National Hockey League training camps today, including Josh Morrissey, Mike Winther and Jayden Hart.
Morrissey will head Winnipeg for the second time this summer, after attending the Jets summer development camp in August. The Raiders 6’, 185-pound defenceman was drafted by the Jets in the first round, 13th overall after scoring 15 goals and 32 assists for 47 points last season.
Winther travels to Texas where he will attend the training camp of the Dallas Stars, the team that selected him in the 2nd round, 54th overall in the 2012 Entry Draft. The 6’, 181-pound left winger finished 2nd on the team in plus-minus last season, with a plus-15 rating along with 22 goals and 50 points.
Braid returns to Washington following a visit to the United States capital for the team’s summer development camp in July. The 6’1”, 190-pound left-winger had a breakout season in 2013-2013, scoring 9 times and adding 20 assists as well as 66 penalty minutes.
Hart journeys to New England to attend the training camp of the defending Eastern Conference champion Boston Bruins. Following being acquired by the Raiders in January last season, the 6’1”, 190-pound centre led the team in power play goals with 7 and tacked on 12 assists in 33 games.
All four players will be out of the line up as the Raiders kick off the 2013 WHL Pre-Season with an exhibition game against the Regina Pats on Thursday at the Art Hauser Centre at 7:00 PM.
