Five Raider Prospects to Participate in U16 Challenge
Prince Albert SK- The Prince Albert Raiders are proud to announce that five 2011 Western Hockey League Bantam Entry Draft selections will play in the 2011 Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup October 27th – 30th in Moose Jaw.
Team Saskatchewan has named three Raider prospects to their roster including 2011 first round draft pick Reid Gardiner, a forward playing this season with the Saskatoon Contacts. Goaltender Rylan Parenteau and forward Tim Vanstone, both of whom were selected in the third round, will join Gardiner on Team Saskatchewan. Parenteau is a teammate of Gardiner’s with the Contacts, while Vanstone is playing with the Swift Current Legionnaires.
Other Raider prospects participating in the tournament will be fourth round draft picks, defenceman Taylor Fisher of the Winnipeg Warriors and forward Spencer Meyer of the Valley West Hawks. They will represent Team Manitoba and Team British Columbia, respectively.
The Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup tournament will feature two games each day with the opening games scheduled for Thursday, October 27. The Gold and Bronze Medal match ups will be featured on Sunday, October 30. All games will be played in the brand new Moose Jaw Mosaic Place.
