RAIDER REVIEW: The Prince Albert Raiders (30-27-3-2) host the Chilliwack Bruins (28-29-1-5) for the first and only time this season. The Raiders pulled out two wins over the weekend with a 3-2 overtime win over Vancouver on Saturday and a 3-2 win over the Broncos in Swift Current Sunday. Prince Albert currently sits 9th in the Eastern Conference with 65 points, trailing the Moose Jaw Warriors and Swift Current Broncos by only one point for 7th. The Raiders will be looking to extend their winning streak to three games.
PLAYOFF RACE IS ON: Prince Albert currently sits on the outside looking in of the Eastern Conference playoff race, but remain only one point back of both Moose Jaw and Swift Current who are tied for the 7th spot. Moose Jaw hosts the Saskatoon Blades tonight while Swift Current is idle. With a win tonight the Raiders will hold down at least the 8th position. With a Raider win and Warriors loss P.A. will jump into 7th.
THE BC SWEEP: After Saturday’s win over the Vancouver Giants the Raiders have now won all four games against BC division opponents so far this season. Tonight’s matchup is the final game versus a BC division opponent and the Raiders will look to go undefeated.
HOME SWEET HOME: At home this season the Raiders have a record of 23-7-1-1, having won eight of their past ten home contests. The Raiders have recorded 36 power-play goals at home this season for an efficiency of 24.7%. Prince Albert has outscored its opponents 130 to 80 at home. The Raiders’ 23 home wins is the second most (tie) in the WHL. Igor Revenko has recorded 36 of his 50 points at home, including 19 of his 24 goals.
TOP SCORER: Brandon Herrod is the Raiders leading goal scorer and now is one of the top scorers in the league scoring race. Herrod has scored a team leading 35 goals this season, having scored in two straight games. Herrod scored a shorthanded goal to force overtime against Vancouver on Saturday and the game winner on Sunday in Swift Current and now leads the Raiders in shorthanded goals (4), insurance goals (6), first goals (6) and game winning goals (6 tied with Revenko). He is second on the team in power-play goals with 10. For the season he has 35 goals and 27 assists for 62 points, sitting second amongst all Raiders in points.
VS BRUINS: Prince Albert has an all-time record of 2-1-0-0 against the Chilliwack Bruins and won the only matchup at the Art Hauser Centre between the two teams. The two teams will not play each other again this season.
SPECIAL TEAMS: The Raiders power-play went 0 for 1 Sunday night against the Broncos. For the season they are now 52 for 267 (19.5%) with the man advantage and are ranked 13th (tie) in the WHL.
