Chipchura a Hab!
Prince Albert, Saskatchewan – Former Prince Albert Raider Captain Kyle Chipchura has been named to the opening day roster of the Montreal Canadiens for the 2007-08 National Hockey League season. Chipchura was the Raiders 1st round selection, 1st overall in the 2001 Western Hockey League bantam draft. The Canadiens selected the Westlock, Alberta product in the 1st round of the 2004 NHL draft, 18th overall.
Chipchura played 214 games with the Raiders from 2002-06 and was captain of the team in the 05-06 season. He also was team captain of the Canadian Junior team that won the World Junior Championship in 2006.
Last season Chipchura helped Montreal’s top farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs to the American Hockey League championship.
The Montreal Canadiens begin the 2007-08 NHL season tomorrow night against the Carolina Hurricanes. Chipchura will wear #28.
