WHL Ride for the Kids – Sticks on Rose
WHL stars get the cycle going
The 41-year-old product of Thompson, Man., climbed off his bicycle for the final time Thursday at a Scotiabank in south Regina, having ridden roughly 650 kilometres over four days during the WHL Ride for the Kids.
Leschyshyn was one of only a handful of former WHLers who pedalled every kilometre of the ride, which was organized to help raise funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan.
He looked stiff as he climbed off following the final leg of the ride from Moose Jaw to Regina.
“About 50 kilometres from Swift Current, when you’ve been on your bike for about 8 1/2 hours, you’re wondering how much further and how many more hills you have,” the former Saskatoon Blades defenceman said with a grin when asked about the most difficult moment of the ride.
