Cougars Prepare for 18 games in 32 Days.
After a weekend split with the Edmonton Oil Kings, the Prince George Cougars are now bracing themselves for a busy stretch of games that will see them play five games in the next seven nights and 18 games in the next 32 days.
On Wednesday, the Cougars will host the Red Deer Rebels before heading out on a four-game road trip that see’s them play two games against the Victoria Royals (February 17th and 18th) and two against the Portland Winterhawks (February 20th and 21st).
Heading into this week’s action, the Prince George Cougars trail the eighth placed Victoria Royals by four points with two games in hand. The Cougars trail the Seattle Thunderbirds by six points for seventh place, with two games in hand.
Of the 18 remaining games, six of them are against either the Royals or the Thunderbirds – Which gives the Cougars ample opportunity to catch both teams.
Add the fact that the Cougars are getting healthier. After missing two weeks of action, the Cougars are set to welcome Dan Gibb back into the lineup when they face Red Deer on Wednesday. Dan Gibb and Cody Carlson have been used often by head coach Dean Clark as a ‘shutdown pair’ and Gibb’s return will only make the Cougars blueline more effective and tougher to play against.
“I’m one hundred percent,” said Dan Gibb on Tuesday afternoon before practice. “It’s been just over two weeks, and it’s felt a lot longer than that. But it’s going to be nice to get back into the lineup.”
Don’t miss the Prince George Cougars and Red Deer Rebels on Wednesday night. Puck drop is at 7:00.
