Americans Sign Prospect Dylan Coghlan
Kennewick, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has signed 15-year-old prospect Dylan Coghlan to a standard WHL Players Contract.
Coghlan, a 6’1 170-pound defenseman from Nanaimo, British Columbia, recently concluded his first season with the Nanaimo Clippers Bantam AAA. In 34 games this season, Coghlan compiled 18 goals, 40 points and 72 penalty minutes. Coghlan, who attended British Columbia’s U-16 Provincial Camp this past July, was originally drafted by Tri-City in the 3rd round (63rd overall) in the 2013 Bantam Draft. Coghlan joins Parker AuCoin and Nolan Yaremko as signees from the 2013 Draft class, with the Americans now having signed three of their top four picks.
“Dylan is a poised, focused hockey player on and off the ice,” explained Barclay Parneta, Americans’ Prospect Development Coach/Head Scout. “Our scouting staff did a terrific job of identifying these characteristics within Dylan and we are excited to watch him develop and grow towards achieving his hockey goals.”
The Tri-City Americans are in the midst of training camp, eagerly preparing for their first pre-season games this weekend. The Americans will, once again, participate in the Everett Silvertips Pre-Season Classic, presented by Holiday Inn Downtown Everett starting Friday, August 30 and running through Sunday, September 1. Tri-City will open the tournament on Friday against the Seattle Thunderbirds, followed by Saturday’s contest against the Portland Winterhawks and Sunday’s match-up vs. the Victoria Royals. All game times are 11:30 AM at Comcast Arena in Everett.
