The Owen Sound Attack unloaded for a season-high seven goals on Sunday afternoon, blanking the Peterborough Petes 7-0 behind Michael McNiven’s 27 saves.

Nineteen year-old winger Jacob Busch had two goals and an assist while hard working grinder Justin Brack had a goal and two helpers as Owen Sound wrapped up the weekend with a pair of victories on Saturday and Sunday, getting back over the .500 mark with a record of 13-12-4-2.

The Owen Sound victory came in one of seven games around the league on a busy Sunday.

OWEN SOUND 7 PETERBOROUGH 0 – The Owen Sound Attack dictated the pace on Sunday afternoon to blank the Peterborough Petes 7-0 on home ice. Veteran winger Jacob Busch scored his first two goals of the season while Justin Brack had a goal and two helpers as the Attack won their second straight contest. Montreal Canadiens prospect Michael McNiven earned the shutout in goal with a 27-save performance. Blueliners Santino Centorame and Thomas Schemitsch each had a goal and an assist.

NORTH BAY 7 LONDON 2 – The North Bay Battalion put and end to London’s nine game winning streak in a big way as captain Mike Amadio had a goal and three assists in a 7-2 victory. North Bay had multi-point efforts from six different players in a chippy affair that saw the two clubs combine for a total of 18 powerplay opportunities. The Knights, who were missing Mitchell Marner, Christian Dvorak and a cast of others away at World Junior camps, were limited to just 23 shots on the afternoon.

SUDBURY 4 GUELPH 2 – The Sudbury Wolves put an end to their 17-game winless drought as Mikkel Aagaard had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over the Guelph Storm. Sudbury goaltender Troy Timpano made 37 saves while forward Alan Lyszczarczyk had a goal and an assist. Guelph forward Jacob Harris had a goal against his old club while goaltender Justin Nichols made 38 saves in the loss.

WINDSOR 4 KITCHENER 3 OT – Jalen Chatfield scored 3:26 into overtime to give the Windsor Spitfires a 4-3 win over the Kitchener Rangers. Chatfield’s seventh of the year came with assists from Bradley Latour and Aaron Luchuk as the Spits closed out the weekend holding a five point cushion on first place in the West Division. A battle of two rookie goaltenders pitted Windsor’s Mike DiPietro against Kitchener’s Luke Richardson as both saw 30 shots on the afternoon. Latour had a goal and an assist for Windsor while Kitchener’s Ryan MacInnis stretched his current point streak to 13 games with a goal in the loss. The Rangers saw their five game winning streak come to an end.

SAGINAW 3 OSHAWA 2 – Kris Bennett provided the winning goal with 1:44 to go in regulation as the Saginaw Spirit took a 3-2 win in Oshawa. Rookie winger Kirill Maksimov had a goal and an assist while Evan Cormier made 30 saves in goal. Oshawa rookie Jack Studnicka scored his first OHL goal while Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Anthony Cirelli scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal just 4:48 into the first period.

SAULT STE. MARIE 8 OTTAWA 5 – The Soo Greyhounds outdueled the Ottawa 67’s in a wild one on Sunday. Defenceman Medric Mercier scored his first two goals of the season and added two assists while Bobby MacIntyre had two and two as well in an 8-5 Greyhounds road win. The Hounds used a six goal second period to propel them over the 67’s who used a goal from rookie Austen Keating 4:59 into the first period to bring the teddy bears onto the ice. Overage centreman Gabe Guertler had two goals and an assist while Zach Senyshyn had three helpers in front of his hometown crowd as the Greyhounds got back to .500. Keating buried his first OHL hat-trick for Ottawa as the 67’s suffered their sixth straight loss.

SARNIA 5 FLINT 2 – Jordan Kyrou’s goal and two assists led the Sarnia Sting over a short-staffed Flint Firebirds squad 5-2. Forward Troy Lajeunesse had a pair of assists as Sarnia improved to 17-11-2-0 for second place in the West Division. Stephan Seeger scored his first career OHL goal for Flint while Brent Moran made 38 saves as his club was outshot 43-23 in the defeat.
