Saturday Highlights: Storm oust Attack

Swiss compatriots Phil Baltisberger and Pius Suter scored second period goals 1:18 apart to lead the Guelph Storm to a 2-1 Game 5 victory over the Owen Sound Attack. The Storm had great goaltending from Justin Nichols who made 28 saves as the Storm advance to the second round of the OHL Playoffs with a 4-1 series win. Watch #GUEvsOS
After Owen Sound’s Ethan Szypula gave the Attack a 1-0 lead 8:50 into the first period, Guelph stormed back in the second as Baltisberger walked out of the corner to beat Jack Flinn at 10:51. Pius Suter’s great short-handed solo effort saw him beat Flinn of the rush to score the eventual winner at 12:09.
Nichols would carry the Storm the rest of the way, making a highlight reel save off Zach Nastasiuk alone in the slot with under two minutes remaining in regulation. The Storm goaltender wrapped up the first round with a 2.41 goals against-average and a .932 save percentage in five games.
The Storm await the winner of a series between the London Knights and Kitchener Rangers to determine who they’ll face in the second round.
