OHL Sponsors Tier 1 Elite League Showcase
Friday December 26, 2014
The next wave of American talent to the Ontario Hockey League will be on display at the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League Showcase Tournament December 27-29 in Taylor and Trent, Michigan.
The OHL is proud to sponsor this event that features many of the top under-16 players from across the United States who are eligible for the 2015 OHL Priority Selection.
The Tier 1 Elite Hockey League is the premier amateur hockey league in the United States featuring 20 organizations stretching from coast to coast. With significant visibility, top level talent, and elite coaching often coming from the upper levels of professional hockey, the Tier 1 Elite League boasts the ability to move young, talented players to organizations at the next level including the OHL.
At this year’s showcase, all 20 Tier 1 Elite Hockey League organizations will compete in four games providing a tremendous opportunity for fans and OHL scouts in attendance to see many of the top players in the United States compete in one single weekend.
In addition to the action on the ice, the OHL’s Director of Player Recruitment, Adam Dennis, will host information seminars to connect with players and their parents throughout the event.
“The OHL is very excited to support the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League Showcase,” said Dennis. “I look forward to the opportunity to meet OHL prospects and their families to provide additional information regarding the OHL player environment which offers student athletes the best of both worlds to pursue both their hockey and academic goals.”
Many past and present OHL players are graduates of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League including Stanley Cup Champion and former Saginaw Spirit Brandon Saad (Pittsburgh), Cole Cassels of the Oshawa Generals (Ohio Blue Jackets), Niagara IceDogs’ Brendan Perlini and Aaron Haydon (Belle Tire), and Saginaw’s Blake Clarke (Chicago Mission).
