Selected in the 1st round, 9th overall by Plymouth in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection, Tyler Seguin shared the OHL scoring title with Taylor Hall with 106 points.  Seguin tallied 48 goals and 58 assists in 63 games in just his second OHL campaign.  In addition to the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy as Top Scorer, Seguin captured the OHL’s most prestigious annual award the Red Tilson Trophy presented to the league’s Most Oustanding Player.   

Seguin captained Team Orr at the 2010 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game and also represented the Western Conference at the 2010 OHL All-Star Classic after playing for Team OHL at the 2009 SUBWAY Super Series.  This season, Seguin was voted Smartest Player and Best Playmaker in the Western Conference Coaches Poll.  He also captured All Weather Windows OHL Player of the Month honours for December and January and also claimed CHL Player of the Week honours once. 

Internationally, Seguin won gold with Canada at the 2009 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament scoring two goals in the final game.  He also won gold with Team Ontario at the 2009 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge where he scored 11 points in six games. 

“Tyler Seguin makes things happen every time he is on the ice and he makes his teammates better," Chris Edwards of NHL Central Scouting told nhl.com.  "He’s a skilled forward. He’s a guy that’s obviously a top-line forward with all kinds of puck skills and playmaking abilities. … He’s an elusive guy in traffic, avoiding checks with the puck.”
