Steelheads’ Gibson sets new club games played record
Mississauga Steelheads overage defenceman Stephen Gibson made history on Thursday, helping the Trout defeat the Barrie Colts 7-4 on the road.
Gibson played in his 252nd career regular season game in a Steelheads uniform, surpassing Josh Burnside (2011-16) for the most by any player since the Steelheads came into existence at the start of the 2012-13 season.

A 20-year-old native of Kitchener, Ont., Gibson has a goal and six assists in 57 games this season. Over parts of five seasons with Mississauga, Gibson has 10 goals, 25 assists and 35 points while also competing in 27 playoff contests.
He was a seventh round pick by the Steelheads in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection from the Kitchener Rangers Minor Midgets.
Riley Brace remains the all-time games played leader in Steelheads franchise history, suiting up in 304 career games with the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors and Steelheads between 2008-2013.
