Saturday Highlights: Johnston hits century mark with first OHL hat trick

– Dallas Stars prospect Wyatt Johnston became the first OHL player to hit the century mark, scoring his first OHL hat trick as Windsor doubled up Flint 6-3.
– Johnston’s 100-point season is the first by a Spits player since defenceman Ryan Ellis last hit triple digits in 2010-11.
– Matthew Maggio finished with a goal and two assists, giving him 12 points over his last five games.
– Winnipeg Jets prospect Dmitry Kuzmin had a goal and an assist for Flint in the loss.
– Mathias Onuska made 24 saves for the Spits opposite Flint rookie Nathaniel Day who made 37 saves.
– Windsor pulls to within three points of the first place Firebirds in the West Division, improving to 33-16-3-3.

– Logan Morrison’s 30th of the season tied the score at two in the third period before Mason McTavish netted the shootout winner, giving the Bulldogs the win in Ottawa. Morrison has a point in 14 straight games.
– The 67’s scored shorthanded goals just over two minutes apart, with Vinzenz Rohrer and Cameron Tolnai lighting the lamp in the first period.
– Matteo Drobac made 18 stops and turned away all three Ottawa shootout opponents while Will Cranley stopped 32 in the loss.
– The Bulldogs improve to 39-12-2-2 while Ottawa earns a point but drops a sixth straight contest, falling to 23-27-2-6 for seventh in the Eastern Conference.

– 2022 NHL Draft prospect Evan Konyen scored 1:39 into overtime with an assist from David Goyette as the Wolves won their second of the weekend.
– Nick DeGrazia led the way with his 19th and 20th goals of the season along with an assist for Sudbury.
– Rookies Pano Fimis and Juan Copeland each had a goal and an assist to help the IceDogs earn a point.
– Mitchell Weeks stopped 31 of 36 for the win opposite Niagara’s Josh Rosenzweig who made 37 saves.
– Sudbury improves to 21-32-3-2, five points back of eighth place Peterborough in the Eastern Conference while the IceDogs sit at 16-35-3-1.

– Sault Ste. Marie moves to within two points of first place Flint in the West Division, improving to 33-18-6-1.

– The Generals battled back from down 3-1 with three straight goals before Colts rookie Chris Grisolia knotted the score in the third period to force overtime.
– Brett Harrison and Ryan Stepien scored shootout markers while Patrick Leaver stopped four of five Barrie shooters as the Generals took the extra point on the road.
– Ryan Gagnier had a goal and an assist while Lleyton Moore and rookie Matthew Buckley both had two assists for the Gennies.
– Rookies Grisolia and Roenick Jodoin both had a goal and two helpers for the Colts.
– Leaver earned the win with 27 saves opposite Barrie’s Matteo Lalama who turned aside 15 as his team earned a point.
– Oshawa moves back to .500 with a much-needed win, improving to 26-26-1-4 for sixth in the Eastern Conference.
– The fifth place Colts own a record of 29-20-4-1.
