Frontenacs round out Eastern Conference playoff picture
The 2019-20 regular season concluded on Wednesday and the Kingston Frontenacs are the final Eastern Conference team headed to the OHL Playoffs.
Despite being tied in the standings, the Frontenacs edge out the Niagara IceDogs by virtue of having one more regulation-overtime win, advancing to the postseason with a 19-39-2-2 record.
Rookie star Shane Wright has been the story in Kingston this season, setting a new franchise record for rookies with 39 goals along with a League-leading total of 66 points (39-27–66) in 58 games as an exceptional status player. Sophomore forward Zayde Wisdom has also been a bright spot, scoring 29 goals while Slovakian winger Martin Chromiak joined the team in January and put up 33 points (11-22–33) over 28 games.
Kingston returns to the postseason after missing out last spring. The Frontenacs have never won an OHL championship, and have a young group eager to gain more playoff experience in the coming months.
