Before he tries to stand out, new Syracuse Crunch forward Matt Kennedy wants to fit in.
So he desperately tried to mute the mohawk haircut he sported for his playoff run with Guelph of the OHL. He snipped the blond thatch of hair in the middle of his head down to a more moderate length. He tried to dye it back to its original brown, but instead it looks more auburn, not quite matching the natural tint on the shaved sides of his head.
“I didn’t want to be walking around (with a mohawk),” he said of creating an initial impression with the Crunch. “I didn’t know if that was the best idea. I didn’t feel comfortable doing that.”
There is only one way Kennedy wants to be noticed here – as a contributor to a playoff team. It’s an ambition with a lot on the line for both the Crunch and him.
