Knights looking to extend point streak to 19 games in Owen Sound
LONDON, Ont. – On Friday night, the London Knights extended their point streak to 18 games by defeating the Erie Otters 5-3. Tonight, the Knights take a trip to Owen Sound for a clash with the Attack.
Scouting the Knights (33-11-0-3)
After dropping two games in a shootout last weekend, London has recovered nicely by winning their previous two. They are 8-0-0-2 in their last 10 matchups and have an opportunity to win a third straight tonight.
Ruslan Gazizov snapped a two-game pointless drought by scoring twice in the win against the Otters. In his last five contests, the 5-foot-11 winger has seven points on four goals and three assists – one of those outings was a four-point performance. Gazizov has been playing on the top line with Jacob Julien and Denver Barkey for quite some time, so look for him to keep the consistency alive.
Easton Cowan is looking to extend his 16-game, 34-point streak in Owen Sound, while Julien, Barkey, and Oliver Bonk can reach four-game streaks.
Special Teams
London owns the league’s top power play (33.7%) and penalty kill (84.9%).
Know the Foe – Owen Sound Attack (23-20-3-1)
Like the Knights, Owen Sound has also won their last two contests. However, the Attack are 5-4-1-0 in their previous 10 games.
Colby Barlow, the 18th overall pick to the Winnipeg Jets last summer, has seven goals and 12 points on his five-game streak. Despite being limited to 29 games this season, the 6-foot-1 forward has 22 markers and 34 points.
Deni Goure, the 10th overall pick in the 2019 OHL draft, has been lethal for the Attack all year. The Grand Pointe, Ont. product has 10 points in his last five games and is coming off a four-point outing against the Barrie Colts. Goure leads Owen Sound in goals (26), assists (40), and points (66).
Special Teams
Owen Sound owns the league’s second-ranked power play (30.9%) and the third-ranked penalty kill (82.4%).
Standings
London sits atop the Midwest Division with 69 points. Meanwhile, Owen Sound is fourth with 50 points.
Head-to-Head
All four games this season between these divisional rivals have resulted in a Knights win, with one coming in overtime. Over the last five years, London owns an impressive 10-4-0-0 record when visiting the Attack.
