Firebirds’ Captain Brennan Othmann Named OHL Player of the Month
Flint, Mich – Flint Firebirds captain Brennan Othmann has been named the Ontario Hockey League’s Player of the Month for the month of October, becoming the first Firebird in franchise history to receive the honor.
Othmann ended the month with 10 G, and 13 A for 23 points which ranked 2nd in the OHL. He ranked first in goals (10) and shots-on-goal (67), was third in power play assists (6) and finished sixth in points-per-game (1.77). Additionally, Othmann recorded his 150th career point on Saturday against the Oshawa Generals, becoming just the fourth Firebird in history to reach the mark.
The first-round pick of the New York Rangers is coming off a record-setting 2021-22 campaign in which he scored 50 goals and 97 points, setting the single-season franchise record for both, and captained the team to their first-ever appearance in the Western Conference Finals.
Othmann and the Flint Firebirds are home for two home games this weekend. On Friday night, they welcome in the Kingston Frontenacs at 7:00 p.m. It will be Pucks Four Paws night, benefiting the Genesee County Humane Society. Then on Saturday, the Firebirds will be hosting a sensory-friendly game when they take on the Guelph Storm, also at 7:00 p.m., for Autism Awareness Night sponsored by Genesee Health Systems.
