SEA DOGS REASSIGN ALEXANDER KEALEY
SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs announced today they have reassigned forward Alexander Kealey.
The Ottawa-native is scheduled to return to his hometown to play at the midget or Jr. A level for the remainder of the season. That decision will be made at a later date.
The Sea Dogs signed the 17-year-old as a free agent during this season’s training camp. He played the team’s first two regular season games, registering five penalty minutes. The 6’7″, 205-lb. winger has not played since due to intense soreness associated with growing pains.
“The acquisition of Bokondji Imama and the development of other players meant playing time was going to be limited for Alex in the second half of the season,” said Sea Dogs General Manager Darrell Young. “We like his potential, so we thought it best to give him a chance to play. We believe it will be important for his development going forward.”
Kealey posted 12 goals and 28 points in 27 games last season with the Ottawa Senators Midget AAA club. He added three goals and 11 points in 14 playoff games in helping his team advance to the Ontario Major Midget championship game.
