Winterhawks Edge Kelowna 6-5 in Shootout
The Portland Witnerhawks defeated the Kelowna Rockets 6-5 in a shootout, coming from behind to spoil the return of Rockets forward Brett Bulmer.
Bulmer had a four point night, but the Winterhawks struck the final dagger in a game that had a little bit of everything, from penalty shots, to video reviews, and finally to the shootout.
Sven Bartschi scored the only goal of the shootout, beating Rockets goalie Jordon Cooke with a low wrist shot to give the Winterhawks the win, despite having not held a lead all game.
The Rockets had several leads in the game but could never put the Winterhawks away in taking the loss. Kelowna earned a point for the overtime loss and sit at 5-9-1-1 heading into a rematch with Portland tomorrow night at Prospera Place.
Bulmer had two goals and two assists while Zach Franko also scored twice for Kelowna. Shane McColgan had the other goal for Kelowna who was outshot 49-19.
Ty Rattie scored twice, while Brad Ross, William Wrenn, and Tyler Wotherspoon also scored for the Hawks.
The two teams meet again tomorrow night at Prospera Place in Kelowna.
