OIL KINGS GO UP BY THREE ON WARRIORS – Michael St. Croix scored the winner and set up another as the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings edged the Moose Jaw Warriors 3-2 in Game 3 of the Husky WHL Eastern Conference Championship series in WHL playoff action on Tuesday.
With the victory, the Oil Kings now own a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series, and have the chance to eliminate the Warriors and capture the Eastern Conference title on Wednesday night.
Curtis Lazar scored his team-leading seventh goal while T.J. Foster also scored for the Oil Kings, who took a 3-1 lead on St. Croix’s goal 5:38 into the third period and survived a late surge by the Warriors to win their 22nd straight game.
Brayden Point scored his sixth goal of the playoffs and James Henry also counted for the Warriors, who went 1-for-5 on the power play in the contest as they find themselves in an 0-3 hole in the series.
Goaltender Laurent Brossoit continued to shine for the Oil Kings, stopping 30 of 32 shots and earning 1st Star honors as he won for the 11th time in the playoffs. Luke Siemens made 20 saves on 23 shots for the Warriors.
The Warriors host Game 4 of the best-of-seven series on Wednesday night in Moose Jaw, SK.
