Rockets Edge Tigers in Wild One in Medicine Hat
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Medicine Hat Tigers 6-5 on Tuesday night at the Canalta Centre in Medicine Hat, concluding a stretch of six straight road games with a win.
Six different Rockets hit the scoresheet in a back and forth affair in Medicine Hat, as Kelowna scored three times in the third period to earn the win.
Nick Merkley scored the winning goal, his first of the season, while Jackson Whistle earned the win, facing 38 shots.
Rourke Chartier, Justin Kirkland, Tanner Wishnowski, Tomas Soustal and Calvin Thurkauf also scored for Kelowna. Cole Linaker added two assists.
The win brings to a close a stretch of six straight games on the road for Kelowna, who went 4-2-0-0 over the stretch, after opening the season with a win in its home opener to sit at 5-2-0-0 on the season.
The Rockets are now heading back to Kelowna for a pair of home games, hosting Victoria on Friday night and Red Deer next Wednesday at Prospera Place.
