Rockets and Bruins in Kelowna Tonight
The Kelowna Rockets finished off a week in which they defeated four BC divison rivals with a convincing 9-3 win over the Chilliwack Bruins Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna.
Defenceman Tyson Barrie had a four point night, scoring once and adding three assists while Shane McColgan and Mitchell Callahan each had three points as the Rockets won their fourth straight game, all this week and all against teams in the B.C. division.
Geordie Wudrick had a hat trick while Spencer Main, Damon Severson and Mitchell Chapman, with his first goal of the season, also scored for Kelowna. Brett Bulmer had a pair of helpers and Adam Brown earned the win in net.
The Rockets power play was good again striking for four power play markers on six chances while the penalty kill put in a perfect night, shutting down the Bruins on five chances.
The win marks the completion of a four game sweep this week as the Rockets defeated Prince George, Kamloops, Vancouver and Chilliwack over a five night span.
The Rockets and Bruins exchanged goals in a furious first period as Kelowna jumped out to a 3-0 lead, gave up two quick ones to the Bruins and then added a fourth to make it 4-2 after 20 minutes.
Barrie, Mitchell Callahan and Shane McColgan all had a goal and two helpers in the first period.
Brandon Manning on a seeing-eye point, Kevin Sundher on a rebound and T.C. Hunter late in the third period had the goals for Chilliwack.
The Rockets are back in action next Wednesday when they host Edmonton in a game sponsored by Shaw where fans are asked to bring a non-perishable itme for the Kelowna Community Food Bank.
