Rockets Beat Portland 7-2, Sweeping Doubleheader

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Portland Winterhawks 7-2 on Thursday night in Portland, winning its first game of the New Year and extending its winning streak to 16 games.
Tyson Baillie and Myles Bell each scored twice and added two assists, while Jesse Lees, Carter Rigby and Ryan Olsen alslo scored for Kelowna.
“They came at us hard in the first period and we were fortunate to get out of the first period tied at 2-2,” said assistant coach Kim Dillabaugh. “(In the second and third) We got back to doing the little things that we need to do to be successful.”
The win was the Rockets second straight in Portland and moved the Rockets to 32-3-0-2 on the season in the third game of a four game road trip.
Kelowna outshot Portland 51-31 with Jordon Cooke earning the win in net.
The Rockets also beat Portland 9-3 on New Year’s Eve.
Kelowna now moves on to a home and home series with the Vancouver Giants, beginning tomorrow night in Vancouver before the team returns to Kelowna to host the Giants on Saturday night at Prospera Place.
