Rockets and Royals Tonight at Prospera Place
Sept. 28, 2013 – Kelowna, BC
The Kelowna Rockets are back in action tonight at Prospera Place taking on the Victoria Royals in its lone Western Hockey League game of the weekend.
The Rockets started the season with a sweep of the Kamloops Blazers during opening weekend and head into the weekend at 2-0-0-0 while the Royals have a 1-3-0-0 record after four games. Victoria split a home and home with Vancouver last weekend and dropped two mid-week games to Spokane.
Kelowna will get a boost to the roster tonight as last year’s leading scorer Myles Bell as well as defenceman Damon Severson have both returned from the New Jersey Devils NHL training camp and are expected to see their first action with the Rockets tonight.
The Rockets held a special teams advantage last weekend as they swept the Blazers in a home and home series. Kelowna was 3-for-11 on the power play while holding the Blazers off the score-sheet in nine opportunities.
It was a balanced Rockets attack that saw all but three skaters hit the score-sheet. Eight different Rockets players scored with Tyson Baillie and Rourke Chartier each scoring twice.
Last season the Rockets led the season series winning seven times and losing just once, outscoring the Royals by a 41-6 margin.
Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
