Rockets-Winterhawks
The Portland Winterhawks defeated the Kelowna Rockets 3-1 Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, completing a weekend sweep of two games between the two Western Hockey League teams.
Derrick Pouliot scored twice, including the winner with just 14 seconds remaining in the second period, snapping a 1-1 tie and propelling the Hawks to the victory. Ty Rattie scored the other goal for Portland.
Jessey Astles had the lone Rockets marker early in the first period on a goal that tied the game 1-1. That was the way it stood until late in the second when Pouliot snapped the tie.
The Rockets record falls to 5-10-1-1 with the loss after Friday night’s shootout loss saw the team earn a single point.
The Rockets are now off until Wednesday when they take on the Red Deer Rebels at Prospera Place.
