r PICKARD’S HEROICS LEAD T-BIRDS PAST AMERICANS – Calvin Pickard turned in a 54-save performance and Prab Raid scored his 20th goal of the season as the Seattle Thunderbirds skated to a 5-1 win over the visiting Tri-City Americans in Western Hockey League action on Friday night.

r Pickard, 17, made 22 saves in the first period, 18 stops in the second and another 15 saves in the third to post his 10th victory of the season for the Thunderbirds (12-17-1-3), who earn their second straight victory. Mikhail Sentyurin scored his first WHL goal while Scott Ramsay, Tyler Alos and Lindsay Nielsen also scored for the T-Birds.

r Neal Prokop scored the only goal for the Americans (22-9-0-0), who see a three-game winning streak come to an end. Drew Owsley made 22 saves in a losing cause for the Americans while Brett Martyniuk stopped the only shot he faced after replacing Owlsey midway through the third frame.

r Antonin Honejsek scored four goals and Travis Hamonic scored three goals and added an assist as the Moose Jaw Warriors blasted the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings 11-2 on Friday.

Division lead to 10 points over second-placed Kelowna. Jamie Tucker stopped all 21 shots he faced in 50 minutes of work to earn the win after replacing starter Mark Segal, who allowed three goals on eight shots in the first 10 minutes of the opening frame.

r Bronson Maschmeyer, Jimmy Bubnick and Shayne Wiebe scored for the Blazers (13-16-2-2), who held a 3-0 lead midway through the opening period but surrendered the next five goals to suffer the loss. Jon Groenheyde made 42 saves in the defeat.

r Dallas Jackson scored the winning goal in a shootout to lift the visiting Prince George Cougars to a 3-2 win over the Everett Silvertips on Friday night.

r Jackson scored the tying goal with 14 seconds remaining in the third period to send the game to overtime while Marek Viedensky also scored for the Cougars (6-24-1-1), who snap a 15-game road losing skid with their first away win since September 26th. Hudson Stremmel stopped 28 shots through regulation and overtime, and wasn’t beaten in the shootout to take the victory.

r Cameron Abney and Kellan Tochkin scored for the Silvertips (16-11-2-1), who see their losing skid hit five games. Thomas Heemskerk made 21 saves through three periods and overtime, but was beaten once in the shootout for the loss.

r Willie Coetzee scored once and added an assist to lead the visiting Red Deer Rebels to a 3-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday.

r Andrej Kudrna and Lane Scheidl also scored for the Rebels (16-14-0-1), who have won three of their last four games and now sit just one point out of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. Darcy Kuemper made 37 saves in the victory.
