Jordon Cooke’s start to the young season has been tremendous, and now he is receiving some much deserved attention and accolades. The 20 year old netminder is the WHL nominee for Canadian Hockey League goaltender of the week award.
The nomination comes on the heels of an unbeaten week for Cooke, as he posted a 2-0 record, and his first shutout of the season. He also posted a 1.00 goals against average, and a staggering .959 save percentage. You know it has been a good week, when you should call it a “goal against average” rather than pluralizing.
Cooke has been a steadying presence in the Rockets crease, and is yet to lose a game in regulation. He has a 6-0-0-2 record, which is especially impressive considering the Rockets have played a number of very strong teams in the WHL already. He currently sits third in the league with a .932 save percentage, while his .208 GAA is also good for third in the WHL.
The native of Leduc, Alberta is in his fourth and final year with the Rockets. The CHL will announce the winner this week.
