BLAZERS BLAST ROCKETS 5-1 ON HOME ICE
It was revenge for the Blazers as they got retribution on the Kelowna Rockets blasting them 5-1 on home ice Sunday night. It was Brendan Ranford who opened the scoring for the second straight night on a wrap around goal eclipsing the 30-goal mark to make it 1-0 Blazers. The home team kept pouring it on as Chase Schaber scored a goal in tight off a broken play with the help of his linemates Jordan DePape and Ranford. Dylan Willick made it 3-0 when he and JT Barnett battled behind the Rockets net for the puck and Willick wrapped it around as goaltender Adam Brown was looking the other way. The Blazers outshot the Rockets 16-6 in the period and took the 3-0 lead into the second period.
There was no mercy in the second period as Bronson Maschmeyer scored in the first minute to open the game up to a 4-0 lead for the Blazers. JT Barnett, who had a terrific game, finally got on the scoreboard as he won a puck battle down low, walked out in front and scored a nifty goal to make it 5-0 Blazers. The Rockets got one back as they converted on a 3-on-1 late in the period to make it 5-1. Colin Smith stood up for his team immediately after the goal as he did very well in a fight with Rockets leading scorer Shane McColgan.
The Blazers put the game on cruise control in the third period winning for the fourth time in five games 5-1 at home. Jeff Bosch had another great game for the Blazers making 29 of 30 shots and getting his 15th win on the season. The Blazers were 1-for-6 on the powerplay and 6-for-6 on the penalty kill on the night.
