Welcoming Back Adam Brown
Many Rockets fans will remember Adam Brown as a phenomenal Rockets alumni who backstopped the Rockets to 107 wins in 200 appearances.
Brown is now back with the orginization in another role.
He began with the Rockets in 2008 and he played parts of four seasons for the Rockets. In the 2009-10 season Brown took over as the Rockets starting goaltender, and he held that position until he finished his WHL playing career in 2012. Brown went on to play in the East Coast Hockey League.
Brown spent three seasons in the East Coast League. Two of those seasons were spent with the Colorado Eagles, before spending his last season splitting time between the Gwinnett Gladiators, and the Ontario Reign.
The Kelowna Rockets have now hired Brown back to the club in his new role as video coach is he also very excited for the new chapter.
“It’s an unreal experience to be able to play here, and then come back on the coaching side. There’s no better organization to return to. The opportunity to be here once, let alone twice has been really good,” said Brown. “It feels good. It’s kind of a new experience for me and I’m enjoying it. You get to see the game from the other side of things and you get to see what the coaches were thinking when you were a player, and then being a former player I can get a feel for what the players are thinking at times as well.”
Brown will be the video coach during home games, as well as help as a goalie coach daily in practice.
Coaching runs in the family for Brown. His father Newell Brown is currently an assistant coach in the N.H.L. Brown has coached the Chicago Blackhawks, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Vancouver Canucks, and is currently an assistant coach on the Arizona Coyotes. He has been coaching in the N.H.L. since 1996.
When asked what part of his playing experience Adam Brown can bring to coaching, he said “throughout the years all the experiences and situations that pop up while playing translate directly to the coaching side because you see what happened as a player, and when you come back as a coach you have that information, and you’ve learned from that, and you can relay that back to the players from a coaching standpoint.”
Coach Brown really couldn’t stress enough how excited he is to be rejoining such a great club.
“I’m really, really excited. I’m extremely grateful that Bruce brought me back and obviously has the confidence in me that I can step in and perform at this role, so I’m just really excited to be here and to get this season going.”
Brown and the rest of the coaching staff are getting ready to face the Kamloops Blazers back to back this weekend.
