The Rockets roll into Langley for a rematch with the Giants
The Kelowna Rockets prepare to revisit the Langley Events Centre to take on the Vancouver Giants on Friday night.
The Rockets and Giants have faced each other twice this month already. Once at home as part of their recent four game home-stand on November 10th when the Rockets took a 5-4 victory in overtime, and once in Langley last Saturday, November 18th when the Rockets fell 6-1. Kelowna is also coming off of a 6-2 loss in Spokane on Wednesday. Assistant Coach Kris Mallette says this next game is about how the group comes together.
“Our group is facing a little adversity right now with some of our key players out of our lineup. We need to come together and play as a team without excuses,” Mallette said. “We have players who need to seize this opportunity and show us they’re up to the challenge. We must reset as a group and play for each other.”
This is the third of eight meetings between the two this season. The next time they meet is on January 13th, 2018 when the Rockets come back to Langley. Vancouver doesn’t return to Prospera Place until February 7th, 2018.
The Rockets enter Friday night with a record of 12-8-2-1 that gives them 27 points placing them in second place in the B.C. Division, six points back of the first place Victoria Royals. The Vancouver Giants sit third in the division with a record of 10-10-2-2 giving them 24 points, three back of the Rockets and two ahead of the fourth place Prince George Cougars.
Following Friday night the Rockets head back home for a Saturday night meeting with the Medicine Hat Tigers. Puck drop on Saturday is at 7:05pm at Prospera Place.
