Rockets and Royals Clash on Hat-Trick Wednesday
The Kelowna Rockets are ready to host the Victoria Royals on Wednesday night at Prospera Place for the first Hat-Trick Wednesday of the regular season.
Assistant Coach Kris Mallette says despite falling in a shootout at the hands of the Everett Silvertips last Friday, the attitude remains positive and the message remains the same.
“Last game the fact that we built ourselves a nice lead in the first two periods through hard work was something that we have to continue to stress to the players, and make sure they’re putting forth that effort for a full 60 minutes,” Mallette said. “We let off a little bit in the third period but we were fortunate enough to still salvage a point. Obviously we wanted a different result but it’s just about staying positive. We’re only three games into a long season.”
The Rockets enter Wednesday night with a record of 2-0-0-1 giving them five points, placing them second in B.C. Division standings, three points back of Wednesday’s opponent, the Victoria Royals. The Royals are off to a hot start leading the B.C. Division with a 4-0-0-0 record. Kelowna has a game in hand on Victoria.
This is the first meeting of the 2017-18 regular season between these two clubs . The Rockets won the season series between these two rivals in the 2016-17 season, as Kelowna finished the year with a 6-2-0-0 record against Victoria.
Puck drop on Wednesday night is at 7:05pm.
