Rockets acquire Jadon Joseph from Moose Jaw
Kelowna Rockets general manager Bruce Hamilton announced today that the Rockets have acquired 20-year-old centre Jadon Joseph from the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for forward Kyle Crosbie, overage forward Kobe Mohr, goaltender James Porter and the Rockets third-round pick in the 2022 WHL Bantam Draft.
“We needed to get a right shot centreman that can consistently win faceoffs,” said Hamilton. “Kobe was a big part of this deal, they really wanted him back in the trade. James wanted to get back into the league, and Crosbie wanted a chance to play more minutes.”
Joseph has appeared in 21 games for the Warriors this season, posting 13 points (7G, 6A) and 21 penalty minutes. The Sherwood Park, Alta. product has suited up in 209 WHL regular-season games over four seasons, collecting 113 points (41G, 72A) and 120 penalty minutes.
The 6’1, 172-pound forward was drafted by the Lethbridge Hurricanes during the 5th round (No. 98) at the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. Joseph has also played with Vancouver and Regina.
Crosbie, 18, was originally drafted by the Rockets in the eighth round (No. 174) of the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. He appeared in 77 games for the Rockets, collecting 14 points (8G, 6A) and 12 penalty minutes.
Mohr was added to the Rockets roster earlier this month, he had four points (1G, 3A) in nine games with Kelowna.
Porter, 19, was selected by the Rockets during the seventh round (No. 153) at the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. He was assigned to the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL earlier this month. He suited up in 73 games for Kelowna, collecting a record of 30-22-7-2 with 3.29 GAA and a .897 SAV%.
