Preview: Rockets set to close out preseason schedule against Vancouver

The Kelowna Rockets will close out their 2022 preseason schedule with a pair of games against the Vancouver Giants this weekend. Kelowna will host the Giants at Prospera Place on Friday night at 7:05 pm, the two will then wrap up their preseason schedule on Saturday at 7:00 pm in Maple Ridge, BC.

“We’re just trying to build on those good habits,” said Kris Mallette about what he was looking for from his team this weekend.

“We’ve got video from Tuesday’s game that we’ll be able to show our players. Much like when we did against Kamloops, when we do it right there’s a certain success that we get from it and when we stray from it, we’re going to have to go back to that drawing board. We’re just trying to get better and trying to implement those small systems as early as possible.”

Tickets

Single game tickets for Tuesday’s game, as well as the other preseason game this Friday and the Rockets home opener on September 24th are now available at Select Your Tickets.

Two dollars from each preseason ticket sold will be donated to Cops For Kids.

Rockets last game

The Rockets secured their second win of the preseason as they came back to down the Victoria Royals 5-3 on Tuesday night at Prospera Place.

Marcus Pacheco, John Babcock and Adam Kydd were the other goal scorers for the Rockets.

Nicholas Cristiano made his first appearance of the preseason for Kelowna, turning aside 17 of the 20 shots he faced.

Giants last game

Vancouver last played on the weekend falling in both games, Prince George topped the Giants 4-2 on Friday and Victoria downed them 3-2 in overtime on Sunday.

Rockets roster updates 

The Rockets have not made any roster moves over the week and continue to carry 26 players on their roster. Not included in that number are netminder Talyn Boyko (New York Rangers) and Colton Dach (Chicago) who reported directly to NHL camps.

The Rockets will be without defenceman Noah Dorey (Edmonton) and goaltender Jari Kykkanen (Florida), the duo have also departed for NHL camps after earning invites as undrafted players.
