A well-rested Prince George Cougars team will be ready for the Kelowna Rockets tonight when they hit the ice tonight at Prospera Place.
The Cougars have been off since last weekend, where they split back-to-back games against the Tri-City Americans. Tri-City took the opening game 4-3 last Friday, Prince George then clawed back to take the game 4-2 the next night. Ethan Samson posted a goal and three assists over both games against the Ams.
The Rockets snapped a three-game losing skid last night with a 2-1 win over the Spokane Chiefs at Prospera Place last night. Jake Lee scored a highlight-reel goal to tie the game up in the second period, the game then went to a shootout where Turner McMillen won the game in the eighth round. New York Rangers prospect Talyn Boyko made 38 saves through 65 minutes of action, picking up first star honours and his fourth win of the season.
Kris Mallette, forward Andrew Cristall and defenceman Caden Price are away at the Capital City Challenge, a four-team tournament featuring Canada’s National Women’s Team and three national men’s under-17 teams at TD Place Arena, home of the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League.
Cristall scored the opening goal of the tournament yesterday, beating the Canadian women’s netminder on a breakaway. You can catch the recap from Hockey Canada here.
The Kelowna Rockets have called up forward Grady Lenton and defenceman Logan Dochuk to join the team as affiliate players. The pair made the trip to Spokane on Wednesday but did not dress for the game, Lenton made his WHL debut last night.
