Game Notes: Rockets at Giants

Tonight’s Preview: The Rockets pay a visit to the Langley Events Centre for the third of four times this season. The Rockets are 0-2-0-0 at the LEC, losing by scores of 4-0 and 6-2. Overall, the Rockets have been out-scored 10-2 in the two visits. The Rockets make one more stop on March 20^th. In the seasonal series, the Rockets are 1-3-0-0, with their lone win coming on January 4^th with a 3-2 shootout victory. The Rockets are coming off a 3-2 overtime win last night over the Seattle Thunderbirds. Matthew Wedman scored the game-winner with 1:02 remaining in the overtime period. Mark Liwiski tied the score late in the third period. Pavel Novak opened the scoring in the first period, snapping a six-game losing streak. Cole Schwebius was solid in goal in the teams’ 22^nd win of the season. The Rockets host the Giants tomorrow afternoon in a rare Sunday game (5:05 pm). After tonight’s game, the Rockets enjoy 7 of their next eight games on home ice. The only road game over that period is next Saturday when they visit the Spokane Chiefs.

Rockets Return: The Rockets welcomed six regulars to the lineup last night. Kyle Topping was back after a 30 game absence with a broken ankle. Topping was hurt October 30^th Victoria. Mark Liwiski had missed eight games while Trevor Wong, Sean Comrie and Roman Basran also returned. Nolan Foote remains week to week while Liam Kindree is out with a long term injury.

Broadcasters Notebook: The Rockets are playing their 46^th game of the season tonight, meaning only 22 games remain on the schedule…Matthew Wedman is five games shy of 300 for his career….The Rockets are 8-4-0-0 against teams in the US Division….The Rockets are now 18-5-0-0 when scoring the games first goal…Kaedan Korczak returned to the lineup last night after serving a three-game suspension …Liam Kindree has been sidelined for an extended period of time after a hit against Kamloops which required surgery on his broken collarbone ….
