14 former Rockets listed on NHL Opening Night rosters
The Kelowna Rockets are proud to announce that 14 Rockets Alumni have been listed on National Hockey League Opening Night rosters to start the 2019-20 season.
The Rockets provided the most WHL Alumni to the NHL this season. Only three other WHL member Clubs are sending double-digit WHL Alumni to the NHL ranks this season, including the Brandon Wheat Kings (12), Portland Winterhawks (11), and Moose Jaw Warriors (10).
Winger Carsen Twarynski becomes the latest Rocket to crack an NHL roster. Twarynski last played for the Rockets during the 2016-2017 season, he had 72 points (45 goals, 27 assists) in 68 games.
Defencemen Tyson Barrie and Tyler Myers will be in new uniforms this season. Barrie was dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs in a blockbuster trade on Canada Day, while free agent Myers signed with the Vancouver Canucks on the same day.
Leon Draisaitl will be looking to build on his 105 point (50 goals, 55 assists) campaign from last season. A healthy Shea Weber could hit 1000 NHL games played this season, he currently sits at 925.
