IceDogs part ways with head coach Fitzgerald
Niagara, ON – The Niagara IceDogs have announced they have made a coaching change and are parting ways with head coach Daniel Fitzgerald.
The IceDogs own a record of 4-10-3-0 through their first 17 games of the season and have dropped three straight, coming off road losses in Kingston and Ottawa last weekend.
“It was a very difficult decision. This is a performance-based position and we felt that our team is a lot better than the record shows,” said IceDogs GM, Darren DeDobbelaer. “Daniel is one of the highest character people I have known and this was a difficult decision to make.”
Jeff Angelidis will serve as interim head coach. Angelidis is coming from the Brantford 99ers coaching staff of the OJHL. The Milton native began his playing career in the OPJHL, was a student-athlete in the NCAA, and even played professionally. Angelidis has experience coaching in the GTHL, the GOJHL, and the OJHL.
