Lazarev lasers Colts; 67’s win third straight
At Barrie, Russian import Leo Lazarev made 35 saves for his fourth career Ontario Hockey League shutout and import Belarussian blueliner Stepan Falkovsky scored his first OHL goal as the Ottawa 67’s won for the first time on the road this season, downing the Barrie Colts 4-0 on Saturday night.
The win was Ottawa’s third straight and evened the squad’s record to 3-3-0-0 on the 2015-16 campaign.
Lazarev outdueled Barrie goalie Mackenzie Blackwood, one of the OHL’s best, who allowed the four goals on 33 shots.
Falkovsky, the rookie import and 6-foot-7 defenceman, scored with 17 seconds remaining in the opening period. Overage forward Nathan Todd, Dante Salituro and Sam Studnicka beat Blackwood in the final period for the 67’s.
Ottawa plays on Sunday in Owen Sound, before heading on another long road trip next weekend to Windsor, before crossing the border to Michigan with stops in Flint and Saginaw.
